Enlivening Circle

The 4th Thursday of the month, 7-9 PM. 100 Hodgkinson St, Clifton Hill VICTORIA 3068, Australia. Participation is free, donations accepted.

The first forum will be the 28th of August. The topic is authenticity. To be authentic is subtle and not that easy, as we look at it. But to be authentic is to realise who you really are, and to be free.

This, as all the forums will be, is an interactive exploration. We will share experience and ideas, including tools for transformation and meditation on koans.

Registration for the forum is necessary. Come back here, or sign up for the newsletter: kirk@kirkfisher.org

It’s Alive! Zen Expression Winter Practice Period 2025
“Meditation is not meditation”, said Zhaozhou.
“Then what is it?” asked a student.
“It’s alive! It’s alive!”

Each of us finds Zen in their own way. One thing is certain, though. What you realise on your cushion informs your life, but it does not end there. The map you had for realisation is way too small for the mystery, the vastness, the freedom of the cosmos, expressed as YOU. It’s alive! It’s alive!

Practice is making ourselves fetchable. We become open, empty, curious.

Our winter practice period will focus on sitting and expression of Zen together. This is a chance to go deeper into your sitting practice. This is also a unique chance to open to where it comes alive for you. How is zen expressed in your life?

Roshi Kirk Fisher will be the main teacher during the practice period, supported by Aladdin Jones Sensei and other senior sangha members.

The practice period includes ‘morning star zazen’ (opportunities for longer, deeper sitting at Saturday zazenkai), embodiment practice and online Sunday koan salons.

You can commit to all of these events, or just some of them. Please register your commitment with the Melbourne Zen Group. You will need to have orientation with the Zen Group ahead of time. Register your commitment
